Cachar’s District Commissioner, Mr. Mridul Yadav, conducted an inspection of agricultural fields and demonstration plots in Lakhipur on February 1, 2025, to assess the progress of ongoing agricultural initiatives. The visit, held in Labokpar 3rd Sector under the Lakhipur Agricultural Development Circle, covered various crops, including potato, mustard, chickpeas, and banana, cultivated under district agricultural schemes.
Accompanied by key officials, including Additional District Commissioner (Agriculture) Mr. Yuvraj Borthakur and District Agriculture Officer Dr. A.R. Ahmed, Mr. Yadav reviewed the effectiveness of the schemes in promoting sustainable farming. The visit aimed to evaluate agricultural productivity, enhance scheme implementation, and strengthen support for local farmers.
The 17th Northeast-Based Chiryu Tribal Students’ Conference and Golden Jubilee Celebration commenced in Budun Chiryu village, Lakhipur, with a grand inauguration. Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, along with other distinguished guests, attended the event, which featured traditional folk performances, a football tournament, and discussions on education and socio-economic development. In a decisive operation at the Silchar-Aizawl Bypass, Cachar Police intercepted an auto-rickshaw carrying 30,000 YABA tablets worth ₹9 crore. One suspect has been apprehended, and investigations are underway to uncover links to larger drug cartels.
