
Mob Vandalizes Vehicle Over Alleged Cattle Theft in Arkatipur Tea Estate
Arkatipur, Assam :– Tension erupted in Arkatipur Tea Estate as an angry mob vandalized a vehicle suspected to be involved in cattle theft. The incident occurred late in the evening when locals noticed suspicious activity involving the transportation of cattle in the area.
According to reports, a group of people confronted the vehicle’s occupants, suspecting that they were smuggling cattle. The situation quickly escalated as more people gathered, leading to the vehicle being severely damaged.
Police were called to the scene and managed to control the situation before any physical violence occurred. One suspect has been taken into custody, while an investigation is underway to determine the legitimacy of the claims.
“We are verifying whether the cattle were legally transported or if this was indeed an act of theft. The situation is under control, and we urge the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands,” said a senior police official.
Cattle theft remains a sensitive issue in Assam, often leading to violent clashes between locals and suspected smugglers. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in unlawful activities.
