Gadkari and the Tripura MP spoke on the upkeep of the Assam-Agartala national route.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Monday assured that the Centre will take necessary measures to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-8), said MP Biplab Kumar Deb.

NH-8, often referred to as Tripura’s lifeline, connects the state with the rest of India, playing a critical role in its transportation network.

In a social media post, Deb stated, “I met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today and discussed four key issues related to Tripura’s road connectivity. I specifically requested urgent maintenance work on the NH-8 stretch between Churaibari and Panitilla in North Tripura district.”

The MP also highlighted three additional projects requiring the Union Minister’s intervention.

“I urged the minister to declare the 148-km road from Kamalpur to Santirbazar, passing through Ambassa and Gandacherra, as a national highway. Additionally, I requested the upgrade of the Fulkumari-Amarpur road to national highway status and sought expedited completion of the four-lane expansion from Ranirbazar to the Agartala Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT),” he said.

According to Deb, Gadkari assured him of swift action on these matters, recognizing their significance to the region’s connectivity and development.
