Two Dead in Separate Road Accidents in Silchar, Including Excise Department Head Constable
Silchar, April 29: Two individuals, including a senior official from the Excise Department, tragically lost their lives in two separate road accidents that occurred on Sunday night in different parts of Silchar.
In the first incident, Bijoy Shuklabaidya, 56, a Head Constable of the Excise Department and resident of Shanti Para in Rangpur, was fatally injured after being struck by a motorcycle. The accident took place around 7:30 PM near Shanti Para while Shuklabaidya was walking along the road.
According to police sources, the motorcyclist, after colliding with Shuklabaidya, transported him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) but fled immediately after admitting him. Despite efforts by medical staff, Shuklabaidya succumbed to his injuries.
In the second incident, which occurred around 8:30 PM at North Krishnapur Part-I area, 50-year-old Aftar Ali was hit by an “i10” vehicle while attempting to cross the road. Ali, originally a resident of Goaspur in Karimganj district, was living in a rented accommodation in Silchar at the time of the incident.
He was rushed to SMCH with critical injuries but unfortunately passed away on Monday morning.
