Cachar Reviews Progress of Mahila Udyamita Scheme Under Guardian Minister’s Supervision
Silchar, June 10: The implementation of Assam’s flagship women empowerment initiative, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan – Nogoria, was reviewed in detail for Cachar district during a high-level District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting held via video conferencing.
Jayanta Mallabaruah, Assam’s Minister and the designated Guardian Minister for Cachar, chaired the session virtually from Janata Bhawan, Dispur, reaffirming the government’s commitment to accelerating grassroots women-led entrepreneurship.
The review was conducted in the presence of Cabinet Minister Shri Kaushik Rai and district MLAs, signaling a unified push by the state leadership to monitor on-ground progress and address implementation challenges in a timely manner.
“This scheme is not just a government program, but a movement to inspire and enable women across Assam to take up self-employment and business ventures,” Minister Mallabaruah said during the review.
Launched under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan aims to provide financial support, entrepreneurial training, and market linkages to thousands of women, particularly in rural and semi-urban pockets. The scheme is seen as a transformative step in reducing economic dependency and uplifting the social standing of women in the state.
With Cachar being one of the key districts under the scheme, the meeting focused on target achievement, fund disbursal, beneficiary coverage, and the timely execution of support infrastructure. Officials were also directed to maintain transparency, ensure capacity-building modules are executed as per timeline, and eliminate procedural bottlenecks.
This proactive review comes at a crucial time when the state is intensifying efforts to scale up inclusive economic development through women-centric policies.
