Silchar, June 10 : A significant coordination meeting was convened today at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), Shri Dhubrajyoti Pathak (ACS), and District Election Officer, Shri Masi Topno (ACS). The meeting focused on streamlining and strengthening the electoral process through systematic updates and interdepartmental collaboration.
The primary agenda of the meeting centered around several key electoral issues, including:
- Timely updating of the voter list,
- Identification and removal of names of deceased voters,
- Collection of six-month consolidated death data, and
- Conducting monthly coordination meetings with Birth and Death Registrars.
Officials emphasized the importance of ensuring the accuracy and sanctity of the electoral rolls by eliminating discrepancies arising from the continued inclusion of deceased individuals in the list. The involvement of medical officers, District Programme Managers (DPMs), and Block Programme Managers (BPMs) in the coordination process was underscored as vital for maintaining real-time data accuracy.
A notable decision taken during the meeting was the mandatory submission of death reports along with a photocopy of the deceased voter’s Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to the District Election Office. This measure is expected to expedite the verification and deletion process, thereby enhancing the transparency and reliability of the electoral system.

The meeting concluded with a directive to ensure strict adherence to timelines and procedural protocols in the interest of electoral integrity.
