Assam Rifles Recovers Huge Cache Of Arms In Uchathol And Jairalpokpi Villages In Jiribam District, Manipur

Jiribam, July 2, 2025: In a significant stride toward maintaining peace and stability in conflict-sensitive zones, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from Uchathol and Jairalpokpi villages in Jiribam district, Manipur.

The coordinated search operation, launched on July 1, 2025, was based on specific and credible intelligence inputs regarding the presence of illegal weapons in the area. The mission reflects the Assam Rifles’ continued vigilance and proactive stance against threats that may compromise peace in the Northeast region.

During the intensive sweep of the villages, the security forces unearthed a remarkable array of illegal arms:

  • Six single-barrel rifles
  • Four double-barrel rifles
  • Two 12-bore shotguns
  • One pompi gun
  • Two locally made sniper rifles
  • One tear gas gun
  • Eight SLR rounds
  • Twenty-seven 5.56 mm rounds
  • Eleven launching tubes
  • Nine Baofeng radio sets
  • Eight tear gas shells
  • Assorted magazines and blank cartridges

This recovery comes on the heels of multiple apprehensions and arms seizures in recent weeks and is seen as part of an intensified crackdown by the Assam Rifles and other security forces against anti-social elements that disrupt communal harmony.

Officials confirmed that the joint operation aimed to deter miscreants and non-state actors who pose a security risk in sensitive areas of Manipur. “The Assam Rifles, with the support of Manipur Police and CRPF, is committed to ensuring that peace returns to Jiribam district. These recoveries are the result of sustained surveillance and coordination,” a senior officer remarked.

This decisive action underscores Assam Rifles’ strategic role in upholding law and order and echoes their dedication to neutralizing destabilizing threats across Northeast India. As part of its broader counter-insurgency framework, such operations continue to strengthen public trust and reinforce the commitment to secure a peaceful future for the region.
