According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation reportedly began over a disagreement related to commodity pricing. The dispute soon took an aggressive turn, with the indigenous trader becoming the target of a physical assault. A local vegetable vendor sustained serious injuries during the scuffle.

Jorhat police reached the scene promptly and detained several individuals in connection with the incident. Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause and identify all those involved.

In a further escalation, a man identified as Bubu Ansari allegedly made derogatory remarks directed at the Mishing community, adding to the prevailing unrest.

Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those found guilty, and efforts are being made to maintain peace and order in the area.
