BRO restores a crucial supply route after clearing a landslide-damaged road in Tawang, Arunachal.

B O News Desk : Heavy rainfall triggered multiple landslides near Jang town in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district on Wednesday, blocking important sections of the Balipara–Charduar–Tawang (BCT) road, a crucial supply lifeline to the frontier region.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) swiftly launched clearance operations, restoring traffic movement by midnight the same day.

This ensured uninterrupted passage for military convoys and essential supplies, a Defence spokesperson said on Thursday.

Troops from the 42 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) worked under relentless rain to clear the debris and reopen the route in record time.

“Despite challenging conditions, our teams managed to restore traffic flow within hours,” said Guwahati-based Defence spokesperson Lt Col Mahendra Rawat in a statement.

During the blockade, BRO personnel assisted stranded tourists by distributing food and drinking water until the road was declared safe.

The BCT road is of critical strategic importance, serving as the primary lifeline for both civilians and security forces in the sensitive Tawang sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Officials said the swift restoration not only brought relief to the local population but also reinforced operational preparedness of troops guarding the frontier.
