SSC Announces Recruitment Drive for Multi-Tasking Staff and Havaldar Posts: Applications Open Till July 24

New Delhi, June 26, 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, has released the official notification for the Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff (MTS) and Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) Examination 2025. This nationwide recruitment drive will fill vacancies across multiple Ministries, Departments, Constitutional Bodies, and Statutory Tribunals of the Central Government.

Online Application Process Commences

Aspiring candidates can submit their online applications from June 26, 2025, with the application window remaining open until July 24, 2025 (11:00 PM). The last date for online fee payment is July 25, 2025, while the correction window will remain accessible from July 29 to July 31, 2025.

The Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for the recruitment is scheduled to be held between September 20 and October 24, 2025, covering examination centers across India, including major hubs in the North East like Guwahati, Silchar, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh.

Vacancies and Posts Available

The recruitment includes posts under:

• Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) – Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial
• Havaldar in CBIC & CBN – Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial

While the total number of MTS vacancies is currently under compilation, the number of Havaldar posts stands at 1,075 as per the tentative vacancy list.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit

Candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination (Class 10) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board before August 1, 2025.

The age limit varies by post:

• For most MTS posts: 18 to 25 years
• For Havaldar positions and certain MTS roles: 18 to 27 years

Government-prescribed relaxations in upper age limits apply for reserved categories like SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and others.

Reservation and Inclusivity Measures

The recruitment process will strictly adhere to the Government of India’s reservation policies, with dedicated vacancies for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen categories. Special provisions are also made for persons with benchmark disabilities, with detailed guidelines for permissible disabilities for each post.

Examination Scheme and Selection Process

The selection process for MTS posts will consist of a two-session Computer-Based Examination (CBE) featuring Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Comprehension.

For Havaldar positions, candidates will undergo the CBE followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST).
Physical tests for Havaldar posts include walking and standard height/weight/chest measurements as per government norms.

Both examination sessions will be held on the same day, with separate time slots for each session.

• Exempted Categories: Women, SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-servicemen candidates

Payment can be made online using UPI, Net Banking, or Debit/Credit cards.

Aadhaar-Based Authentication Introduced

For the first time, SSC has introduced an Aadhaar-based authentication option for easier verification. Candidates choosing this method will not be required to upload separate photos or provide physical ID proofs at the examination center.
