Allegations Against Hailakandi District Congress President Are Baseless: Counterclaim by Algapur Block Congress President
BarakOutlet Correspondent, Hailakandi, January 30: The allegations against Hailakandi District Congress President Sams Uddin Barbhuiya have been outrightly dismissed as baseless by officials of the Algapur Block, Mandal, and District Congress. On Wednesday, during a protest meeting at Rajiv Bhavan in Algapur, a press conference was held by Algapur Block Congress President Advocate Numan Ali Barbhuiya. He strongly condemned and criticized the baseless accusations made against the district president by individuals claiming to be former Congress officials. He emphasized that there is no question of expressing no confidence in the district president, especially in the run-up to the Panchayat elections. Instead, he asserted that such actions were carried out at the behest of the BJP.
Numan Ali Barbhuiya further stated that these individuals do not hold even a basic membership in the Congress party. He reiterated that questioning the credibility of the district president at this crucial juncture is entirely unjustified and politically motivated.
Meanwhile, Algapur Mandal Congress President Altaf Hussain remarked that Sams Uddin Barbhuiya took charge of the Congress party in Hailakandi during its most challenging times with only a handful of dedicated party workers. Now, certain opportunists are demanding his removal. He accused these individuals of being active in the Congress party during former minister Gautam Roy’s tenure but having no relevance in the present political scenario. Furthermore, he alleged that during the last Lok Sabha elections, these individuals assisted BJP candidates Siddique and Kamalaksh in securing votes. Altaf Hussain pointed out that under the leadership of Sams Uddin Barbhuiya, the Congress candidate had secured a lead of more than 70,000 votes in the Hailakandi constituency during the last Lok Sabha elections. He expressed confidence that under the same leadership, there would be a massive wave of support for the Congress party in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
Additionally, District Congress Administrative General Secretary Rafique Uddin Barbhuiya dismissed the rumors regarding any bribery-related discussion with the district president over election ticket distribution. He condemned those spreading false information and expressed strong disapproval of such misleading claims.
During the protest meeting, speeches were delivered by District Congress Advisor Marm Ali Mazumdar, District Congress Vice Presidents Abdul Jalil Barbhuiya, Nazrul Mazumdar, and Champu Tapadar. The meeting was attended by prominent Congress leaders, including Nazrul Laskar, Sahabuddin, Abdul Jalil, and several office bearers of the Algapur Mandal Congress.
