
Cachar Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs. 8.5 Crore, Youth Arrested
Cachar – In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Cachar Police apprehended a youth with 1.7 kg of heroin valued at approximately Rs. 8.5 crore. The operation was led by Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, following a tip-off about the smuggler’s movements near the Assam-Mizoram border at Dholakhal BOP.
The arrest occurred around 1 AM on June 6, when the suspect, Abdul Ahad Laskar, 33, attempted to cross the border carrying the contraband. Laskar, the son of Khalil Uddin Laskar from Rajgobindpur (Napithkhal) in South Dhalai, was intercepted and found with heroin hidden in 139 soap cases.
SP Numal Mahatta confirmed the market value of the seized heroin and stated that a case has been registered under the anti-narcotics law. The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details and possible connections in the drug trafficking network.
