Cachar Revises School Timings Amid Soaring Temperatures; New Schedule Effective from June 11
Silchar, June 10: In light of the persistent and alarming rise in temperatures across Cachar district over the past week, the District Administration has announced a revised school timing schedule for all government and private schools with effect from June 11, 2025. This decision aims to safeguard students from prolonged exposure to extreme heat during the peak hours of the day.
According to an official order issued by the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar, the move comes after thorough consultation with relevant authorities, taking into consideration the pressing need to create a safer and more conducive learning environment amid severe weather conditions.
The revised timings are as follows:
- Lower Primary Schools (L.P. Schools): 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM
- Upper Primary Schools (U.P. Schools): 7:30 AM to 12:45 PM
- High Schools / Higher Secondary Schools: 7:30 AM to 01:15 PM
The directive, approved by the Addl. District Magistrate, Cachar, emphasizes that this change will remain in force until further orders. It reflects the administration’s proactive stance in ensuring student welfare during an increasingly challenging summer season.
The order, numbered E 66571/MJ/1164/2023-MAG-CACH/Pt-A and dated June 10, 2025, has been circulated widely to key education and administrative stakeholders, including the Department of School Education, Assam, the State Disaster Management Authority, law enforcement, and educational officers across the district.
