Complaint Filed Against Bangladeshi Student for Political Commentary on Pahalgam Terrorist Attack

Silchar, Assam: Subhash Choudhury, a social activist, has formally registered a complaint with Kerala Police against Sadman Shahoriar, a Bangladeshi national currently pursuing studies at NIT Calicut, for mocking the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack in a Facebook post. Choudhury alleges that Shahoriar’s post involves political commentary and mud-slinging against the Union of India, violating the Foreigners Act 1946, which restricts foreign nationals from engaging in political activities in India unless specifically permitted.

In his Facebook post, Choudhury stated, “I have just now submitted a complaint in Silchar Sadar Thana against a Bangladeshi citizen, Sadman Shahoriar, under Section 356 of BNS and the Foreigners Act 1946.” Although Shahoriar is studying in Kerala, which is outside Assam’s jurisdiction, local police have assured Choudhury that a Zero FIR will be filed, and the legal procedure will be initiated shortly.

Choudhury has also called on Assam Police, Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Cachar Police to take stern legal action against the accused.

The complaint has raised serious concerns regarding foreign nationals’ involvement in political discourse in India, urging the authorities to address this matter promptly.
