Corruption Clouds Kalain Education Department: Locals Allege Funds Misuse
Kalain, July 9: In a startling revelation, several residents of Kalain have accused the local Education Department of corruption and financial mismanagement, citing irregularities in the utilization of development funds. Locals allege that a substantial portion of the grants allocated for school infrastructure and midday meal programs has been siphoned off, leaving basic educational amenities in dire straits.
According to eyewitness accounts and unofficial reports, certain government-aided schools in the area remain underdeveloped despite repeated assurances by department officials. Parents and teachers complain about the poor condition of classrooms, lack of sanitation, and insufficient educational materials—despite funds being shown as “utilized” on paper.
Speaking on the matter, a local guardian stated, “Our children deserve better. What’s happening here is blatant misuse of public money meant for education.”
Meanwhile, activists and concerned citizens have submitted a memorandum to the District Education Officer demanding an immediate inquiry. The department, however, has refrained from issuing any official statement.
The incident has fueled public discontent and raised questions about the transparency and accountability of the education system in Barak Valley’s rural areas. A wider investigation is now being sought to uncover the truth behind these troubling allegations.
