India Club Silchar Announces U-19 Cricket Tournament

Silchar, Assam – As part of its 125th-anniversary celebrations, India Club Silchar has announced an Under-19 cricket tournament aimed at fostering young talent in the region.

The tournament will feature 30-over matches, played with the traditional red ball. Unlike many modern-day limited-overs tournaments, players will wear white attire, bringing back a classic cricketing tradition.

“We believe in promoting young cricketers by giving them a professional playing experience. The use of red balls and white clothing adds an element of traditional cricket, preparing them for higher levels of the game,” said an official from India Club.

The tournament is expected to witness participation from various cricket academies and schools across Barak Valley. Trials for team selection will be conducted next week, with the opening match scheduled for early next month.

This initiative comes at a crucial time when Barak Valley is striving to produce more state and national-level cricketers. The tournament is seen as a stepping stone for young players aiming to make a mark in Assam’s cricketing circuit.
