Key Administrative Decisions in Cachar: Focus on Water Sanitation & Electoral Roll Preparation

Silchar, June 19, 2025: In a significant push towards grassroots governance and infrastructure development, multiple key administrative meetings were held today under the leadership of top district officials in Cachar.

Earlier in the day, Shri Mridul Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar, chaired the District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) meeting. The session witnessed the presence of Shri Pranab Kumar Borah, ACS, CEO, Cachar Zilla Parishad; Smti Anjali Kumari, ACS, Assistant Commissioner; along with senior officials from PHE, PWRD, and allied departments.

The meeting reviewed progress and flagged concerns on:

  • Scheme Handover & Functionality: Addressing roadblocks and ensuring operational readiness of water projects.
  • Dysfunctional Schemes: Identifying non-functional installations and charting corrective action.
  • Road Rehabilitation: Approval of schemes under FY 2024–25.
  • BFM Reporting: Functionality updates and revenue review.
  • Jal Mitra Performance: Strengthening local implementation mechanisms.
  • Jal Utsav Planning: Finalising roadmap for community-based engagement.
  • Completion Certificates: Status on final bill processing for completed works.

In a separate but equally vital administrative development, the District Development Commissioner, Cachar, Shri Norsing Bey, ACS, convened a high-level meeting to discuss the Draft Electoral Roll preparation for the upcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation elections. Representatives from all recognised political parties were present as the administration outlined the timeline, claims and objections process, and transparency protocols to ensure fair roll publication.

These meetings collectively mark a strategic alignment of district efforts towards civic development and electoral readiness.
