
Major Drug Bust Near Silchar: Heroin and Yaba Worth ₹6.7 Crore Seized by Cachar Police
April 28, Silchar: In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Cachar Police successfully intercepted a vehicle near Silchar Bypass, leading to the recovery of a massive consignment of narcotics.
During the operation, authorities seized approximately 114 grams of heroin and a staggering 20,000 Yaba tablets hidden inside the vehicle. The estimated market value of the recovered drugs stands at an astounding ₹6.7 crore.

Following the seizure, two individuals have been arrested. They are currently under interrogation as police continue efforts to uncover the broader network involved.
This successful operation highlights the Cachar Police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in the Barak Valley region. Further investigation is underway, and officials hinted at possible links to cross-border smuggling rackets.
