PM Vishwakarma Yojana Gains Ground in Cachar; Skill Development in Focus

Silchar, June 19, 2025: In line with the national mission to empower traditional artisans, the District Administration of Cachar today convened a critical review meeting on the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana at the old conference hall of the DC office.

The session was chaired by Smti Anjali Kumari, ACS, District SPOC for the PM Vishwakarma project, and attended by Shri Shiladitya Sarkar, State Engagement Officer, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), alongside Block Development Officers (BDOs) and officials from the DICC and Development Section.

Key takeaways from the meeting included:

• Initiation of Brick Masonry Training: The district is set to commence masonry skill training under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. Efforts are underway to resolve OTP verification issues and ensure seamless beneficiary onboarding through updated block-wise lists.
• Feasibility of New Job Roles: A survey will be launched to assess the introduction of additional artisan job roles in regions with high enrolment potential.
• Update of SPOC Details: Immediate update and realignment of Single Point of Contact (SPOC) information for recently transferred development officers were mandated.

The meeting highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration to ensure the scheme delivers on its objective of vocational upliftment and traditional skill preservation.
