Power Outages Continue to Disrupt Life in Katigorah

Katigorah, July 9: Frequent and prolonged power cuts in Katigorah have sparked frustration among residents, who are now demanding immediate intervention from the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). Reports suggest that several areas of the constituency experience daily blackouts ranging from 5 to 8 hours, severely affecting domestic and commercial activities.

Students preparing for competitive examinations, small shop owners, and patients dependent on electrical medical equipment are among the worst affected. Many have resorted to using costly inverters and generators, further adding to financial burdens in a region already grappling with inflation.

“We face darkness every evening. Our children can’t study, our businesses suffer, and APDCL remains unresponsive,” said a local trader from Katigorah Bazar.

Despite repeated complaints filed with the sub-division office, no clear explanation or timeline for resolution has been offered. Local civil society organizations are planning a protest march if the situation remains unchanged.
