
Robbery Reported at Professor’s Residence on Silchar-Hailakandi Road; Gold and Cash Worth Thousands Stolen
Silchar, June 18: In a shocking incident that has raised concerns over the prevailing security conditions in residential areas, a robbery was reported on Wednesday evening at a house on Binoy Badal Lane, located along the Silchar-Hailakandi Road.
The residence, identified as House No. 36, belongs to Professor Jitesh Kumar. According to preliminary reports, unidentified miscreants gained access to the house and made away with three gold chains, two gold rings, ₹22,000 in cash, and other valuable household items.
The matter came to light when the family discovered the break-in and immediately alerted the authorities. An FIR has been officially lodged, and police have commenced a full-scale investigation into the matter. Forensic and crime branch teams were also seen at the location to gather evidence.
Speaking to BarakOutlet, a senior police official confirmed, “We have registered the case and are pursuing all possible leads. Preliminary investigations suggest that the act was premeditated, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.”
Locals in the area expressed shock over the incident and urged law enforcement agencies to intensify night patrols and enhance surveillance in vulnerable residential zones.
