
Special Election Bus Service for Poll Workers Identified via ISBT
Silchar, April 29 (BarakOutlet): For the upcoming Panchayat elections, the administration has arranged a special bus service from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Ramnagar, Silchar, for poll workers who are heading to their designated polling stations. The Silchar Traffic Police and the District Transport Officer (DTO) have jointly coordinated this initiative. The movement of buses began today from ISBT in a phased manner.
A total of 1,144 buses will operate from ISBT under this initiative. The bus service has been organized in multiple batches covering various routes. Here’s the detailed breakdown:
- From ISBT to Kalain Bazar (via Silchar): 744 buses are plying from ISBT to Kalain Bazar through major stops such as Rangirkhari, Trunk Road, and Itkhola.
- From ISBT to Jirighat-Banskandi: 478 buses are moving from ISBT through the ISBT-Banskandi-Jirighat axis.
- From ISBT to Lailapur (Border area): 528 buses have been designated for this route, passing through Srikona, Irongmara, and Bagha Bazar.
- From ISBT to Sonai-Borkhola-Dholai areas: 420 buses are assigned.
- ISBT to Katigorah-Jirighat: This long stretch will have buses running from ISBT covering areas such as Fulertal, Kalain, and Borkhola.
- From ISBT to Lakhipur-Binnakandi-Sonai: Poll workers traveling to distant rural areas of the valley like Harinagar and Binnakandi will be transported via special services.
Additionally:
- 474 buses have been arranged for the route connecting Silchar to Assam University (via Meherpur, Rangirkhari, and Sadarghat).
- 406 buses will operate between Silchar and Ramnagar-Borkhola areas, ensuring that remote polling stations are well-covered.
Some of the key stops include:
- ISBT to Udharbond-Lakhipur route: For polling officials assigned to remote locations.
- ISBT to Joypur-Pailapool-Bihara-Srikona: Poll workers will also reach areas like Srikona and Bihara via ISBT buses.
- ISBT to Dolu Airport Road and Katigorah Police Station route: For security and reserve personnel deployment.
Each of these buses has been tagged with a bus number and designated police supervision. The buses will move with polling personnel from morning till late evening in shifts to ensure smooth dispatch and return.
Police escort and sector officers have been deployed to assist and monitor these operations. The District Election Officer has confirmed that all buses are equipped with seating arrangements and water provisions for the comfort of the staff.
With polling scheduled imminently, this massive logistical arrangement is meant to ensure that every polling official reaches their designated booth safely and on time.
If required, additional shuttle buses will be deployed every 15 minutes to ISBT from key locations such as Trunk Road, Circuit House, and Sadarghat to handle any overflow of personnel.
