Young Man Missing in Barak River at Singerband, Search Operations Underway

BarakOutlet | Silchar, April 28, 2025: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday at Singerband when five young men went for a bath in the Barak River. While four of them managed to swim to safety, one youth, identified as Inungba Singh, went missing in the strong currents.

Upon receiving information, the local police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) immediately launched search and rescue operations. Despite continuous efforts spanning several hours, Inungba Singh could not be located till late evening.

Eyewitnesses reported that the group had ventured into a relatively deeper part of the river, where strong undercurrents are common, especially during the pre-monsoon season. Authorities have issued a cautionary advisory urging people to avoid swimming in unpredictable river stretches.

The search operation is still ongoing, and authorities have assured that every effort is being made to trace the missing youth. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the local community.
