
Health Minister Directs Improvement of Rural Hospital Infrastructure
Barakoutlet, Hailakandi: Assam’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, as well as Irrigation, Ashok Singhal, has issued directives to improve the infrastructure of rural hospitals. On January 30 (Thursday), during a review meeting of the health department at the Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner’s office, he emphasized that inadequate healthcare services in rural hospitals lead to excessive pressure on district-level hospitals. Therefore, it is essential to enhance healthcare facilities at the district level to ensure better medical services.
The health minister issued strict instructions to departmental officials to improve district healthcare services. He expressed concern that Hailakandi district had not achieved the desired progress in various healthcare parameters. During the meeting, MLA Suzam Uddin Laskar urged the minister to appoint doctors at the Kacharitola and Ramchandi hospitals. Additionally, MLA Zakir Hussain Laskar raised concerns about counterfeit medicines being sold in some pharmacies in Hailakandi.
The meeting was attended by Hailakandi’s Deputy Commissioner in Charge (DDC) Eldorad Fyrem, District BJP President Kalyan Goswami, and several other officials. Prior to the meeting, Minister Singhal visited the SK Roy Civil Hospital in Hailakandi, where he inspected the hospital’s medicine stock and reviewed its overall functioning.
