India Crosses 6,000 Active COVID-19 Cases, But Assam Shows Remarkable Decline to Just Four

Silchar, June 9: While India’s active COVID-19 caseload has once again crossed the 6,000 mark, the state of Assam stands out with a significant decline, reporting only four active cases as of Monday. This comes amid concerns of a minor resurgence in several parts of the country.

According to the latest update from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Assam recorded two more recoveries in the past 24 hours, reducing the active count to just four — a promising drop from the ten active cases registered as recently as June 6.

This steady decrease in cases indicates that Assam is managing the current wave efficiently, especially in contrast to the rising national figures. Health authorities in the state continue to maintain strict surveillance and adhere to central health advisories aimed at outbreak preparedness.

“Despite the national rise, Assam remains among the lowest in active cases nationwide,” said a senior state health official. “We are staying alert and continue to monitor every case closely.”

At the national level, Kerala remains the most affected, reporting 1,957 active cases, followed by Gujarat with 980, and West Bengal with 747. These states contribute heavily to the national tally, which currently stands at 6,491 active COVID-19 cases.

The Central Government has issued advisories to all states and union territories to remain vigilant, maintain hospital readiness, and strengthen health infrastructure to handle any unforeseen spike in cases.

BarakOutlet acknowledges the proactive approach of Assam’s health department in curbing the spread and urges citizens to remain cautious and follow standard safety measures, even as the situation improves.
