
Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: PM Modi Prepares for Third Term
New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take the oath for his third consecutive term on June 9 at 6 PM, following the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party meeting. This meeting, held at the Samvidhan Sadan (Old Parliament), commenced at 11:45 AM on Friday and saw the attendance of newly elected MPs of the BJP-led NDA.
During the meeting, the MPs elected Narendra Modi as their leader, officially paving the way for his continuation as the Prime Minister. The session was attended by senior leaders of the alliance, including chief ministers and prominent figures such as BJP president J P Nadda, who proposed a resolution in support of Modi’s leadership. This proposal was expected to be endorsed by the allies and MPs present.
Following the election of Modi as the leader, key alliance members including TDP’s N Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar, and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde joined the Prime Minister for a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. They presented her with a letter of support from the parliamentarians.
The NDA, with 293 MPs, holds a clear majority in the 543-member Lok Sabha. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Sunday.
In preparation for forming the new government, senior BJP leaders such as Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and J P Nadda have been in discussions with allies to ensure a balanced representation in the cabinet, which will be crucial for the NDA’s stability and governance.
This meeting and the subsequent events mark a significant moment in Indian politics as Narendra Modi prepares to lead the nation for another term.
