RPF intensifies its anti-drug campaign throughout the Northeast and confiscates contraband valued at Rs 9.4 crore.

The Railway Protection Force of Northeast Frontier Railway has intensified its anti-narcotics operations, apprehending 37 individuals in October 2025 and seizing contraband worth nearly Rs. 9.41 crore. Vigilant efforts included recovery of ganja at various railway stations such as 37.1 kg at New Cooch Behar, 23.61 kg at Agartala and Lumding, and 50.51 kg across Dharmanagar, Agartala, and Rangapara North. All seized contraband was handed over to the respective Government Railway Police units for legal action. Alongside narcotics prevention, the RPF is proactively rescuing vulnerable passengers, including minors, as part of anti-human trafficking initiatives. Coordinated actions between the RPF, GRP, and Customs continue to be vital in ensuring passenger safety and curbing illegal activities within NFR’s jurisdiction, which spans several Northeastern states as well as parts of West Bengal and Bihar.​

On November 21, Guwahati will host the NEREVE Expo, which focuses on electric mobility.

The second North East Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicle Expo (NEREVE) will be held in Guwahati from November 21 to 23, 2025. Organised by the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), the three-day event aims to accelerate renewable energy adoption and electric mobility in the Northeast, underscoring the region’s strategic role in India’s clean-energy transition. Supported by key ministries including MNRE, MSME, MoRTH, and the Ministry of Power, the expo will feature 70 companies and 120 exhibition stalls, along with an open display zone for electric vehicle manufacturers to showcase new models and launches. The program includes policy dialogues, technical conferences, knowledge-sharing sessions, and B2B/B2G interactions linking industry leaders, government agencies, researchers, and innovators. A special focus is on empowering regional entrepreneurs and startups through access to emerging technologies, market insights, and networking opportunities. Capacity-building and skill development sessions will further support the growth of the green energy and e-mobility ecosystem in the Northeast.

At the Bengaluru nationals, Arunachal powerlifters win a record number of medals.

Arunachal Pradesh registered one of its strongest outings at the championship, returning with a commanding medal tally across senior, junior, and sub-junior divisions. Senior lifter Santana Manlai’s gold in the –52 kg SBD category set a high standard for the team. In the sub-junior category, Pinge Basar emerged as the most decorated athlete with gold medals in SBD, Single Bench, and Single Deadlift. Prince Raj secured golds in SBD and Single Deadlift and a silver in Single Bench. Joseng Pangyouk earned double gold in Single Bench and Deadlift, while Tobang Norah took silver in SBD. At the junior level, Bidhata Nayak won two silver medals, and Tumge Karbak claimed a gold in the sub-junior Single Bench event. Subham Singh also contributed two golds in sub-junior bench and deadlift categories. General Secretary Azad Basfore attributed the team’s success to consistent training and increased grassroots participation in the state.

The 2025–2026 tariff with relief for remote districts is announced by the Tripura Power Regulator.

“Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission has released the 2025–26 electricity tariff with a strong focus on easing the burden on consumers in remote areas. Effective from November 1, the revised tariff introduces a 10 per cent rebate for hospitals, home-stays, women’s self-help group–run businesses, and mobile towers in remote zones to support essential services and local economic activity. Energy charges remain unchanged for all consumer categories to avoid increasing monthly bills. The Kutir Jyoti scheme has been expanded to benefit low-income families by increasing the permissible connected load and doubling the monthly consumption cap, enabling the use of essential appliances without added financial strain. Fixed charges will now be billed based on connected load rather than per connection, enhancing transparency and equity. Additionally, consumers have the option to purchase green power at a small additional cost, encouraging cleaner energy use.”

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS MEDICAL CAMP AT LONGPI VILLAGE, NUNGBA SUB-DIVISION, MANIPUR.

Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp in Longpi village, Nungba Sub Division, Manipur, aimed at providing quality healthcare in remote regions. The initiative focused on diagnosing the health and well-being of local residents by delivering essential medical care and health awareness consultations at the grassroots level. A total of 194 villagers, including 62 women, 85 men, and 47 children from Longpi village and adjoining areas, actively participated. Led by a qualified Medical Officer, the Assam Rifles medical team provided free consultations, distributed essential medicines, and educated attendees on primary healthcare practices and preventive care. This humanitarian outreach fostered unity and mutual trust, reinforcing Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to its motto as the ‘Sentinels of the North East,’ working tirelessly not only for security but also for the welfare of the people.

ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES YABA TABLETS WORTH ₹6 CRORES IN CACHAR DISTRICT, ASSAM.

Assam Rifles, along with Cachar Police, launched an operation on 9 November 2025 based on information about drug trafficking in Cachar district. During the operation, they apprehended a Silchar resident transporting 20,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹6 crore via Silchar Bypass Road. The individual’s mobile phone was confiscated, and investigations are underway. Assam Rifles has been actively conducting regular anti-drug operations to disrupt narcotics networks. This seizure marks a significant milestone in combating drug trafficking in the region.

This operation followed closely by another major seizure on 11 November 2025, where Assam Rifles and Cachar Police recovered heroin worth ₹4.65 crore from near Jhujang Pahar in the same district. Both seizures highlight Assam Rifles’ crucial role in tackling drug smuggling along vulnerable transit routes in Northeast India, particularly along the Assam-Myanmar border. Yaba tablets, a highly addictive combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, are commonly trafficked in the region. Assam Rifles continues its mission to protect society by disrupting these narcotics networks.​
