In a historic milestone for Assam’s Karbi community and the Northeast, Srishti Rongpipi has become the first Karbi scholar to secure admission to the University of Oxford. She will pursue an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, following a highly competitive global selection process. Srishti, daughter of retired Wing Commander Prasanta Kumar Rongpi—the first Karbi to serve as an Indian Air Force pilot—has an outstanding academic and professional background, with degrees from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, and NLSIU Bangalore, as well as extensive research experience. Her achievement is a source of immense pride for her community and is expected to inspire future generations. Srishti will commence her studies at Oxford in October 2025.
