Multiple digital devices were seized during the arrest, and the case is under multi-agency investigation. Authorities have urged the public to verify content authenticity before sharing online.
The Manipur Government has appointed dedicated Nodal Officers in each affected district to expedite the issuance of vital documents for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) facing delays and rejections. Nobin Arengh from Monabari village in Meghalaya’s South West Garo Hills has been awarded the ‘Best Fish Farmer Award’ at the National Fish Farmers’ Day celebrations in Tripura. Recognized for his innovative and sustainable fish farming practices—including integrated fish-duck farming—Arengh’s venture, launched in 2016 with government and bank support, now yields up to 2 metric tonnes of fish annually and generates Rs 3–4 lakh in gross earnings. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the establishment of 80 new model schools in the state’s tea garden areas, adding to the 118 already in operation. The initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities for children of tea garden workers, with plans to introduce mid-day meal schemes for classes 9 and 10 and equip schools with smart classroom facilities. In a historic milestone for Assam’s Karbi community and the Northeast, Srishti Rongpipi has become the first Karbi scholar to secure admission to the University of Oxford. She will pursue an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, following a highly competitive global selection process. Srishti, daughter of retired Wing Commander Prasanta Kumar Rongpi—the first Karbi to serve as an Indian Air Force pilot—has an outstanding academic and professional background, with degrees from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University, and NLSIU Bangalore, as well as extensive research experience. Her achievement is a source of immense pride for her community and is expected to inspire future generations. Srishti will commence her studies at Oxford in October 2025.
