Assam Rifles Hosts Youth Enrichment Event ‘A Day with Company Commander’ in Jiribam

Jiribam, Manipur, 12 July 2025: In a remarkable outreach initiative aimed at fostering greater understanding and engagement between India’s youth and its paramilitary forces, the Assam Rifles organized a dynamic programme titled ‘A Day with Company Commander’ on Saturday at Kadamtala, Jiribam. The event drew participation from 82 enthusiastic students—48 boys and 34 girls—along with four faculty members from Jiri College and Jiribam Higher Secondary School.

Organised with the objective of offering students a firsthand glimpse into the disciplined life and multifaceted responsibilities of the Assam Rifles, the event began with an engaging briefing session. Students were introduced to the operational ethos, technological capabilities, and the pivotal role Assam Rifles plays in maintaining peace and security, particularly in the Northeast.

Participants had the rare opportunity to witness and handle the various state-of-the-art equipment currently deployed by the force. A friendly volleyball match, played between the Assam Rifles personnel and students, added an energetic touch to the day, reinforcing the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.

A major highlight of the event was the K9 demonstration by the Assam Rifles’ trained service dogs, which left the audience enthralled. This was followed by a high-adrenaline slithering display by elite soldiers—an act that drew awe and admiration from all corners.

To deepen their understanding, a curated documentary film detailing the historic legacy, operational diversity, and heroic milestones of the Assam Rifles was screened. A career counselling session held thereafter provided students with valuable insights into joining the armed forces and serving the nation.

In a gesture of camaraderie, a community lunch was hosted for the attendees. Students and faculty interacted freely with the Assam Rifles personnel, exchanging thoughts, aspirations, and feedback.

Students expressed heartfelt gratitude and requested for more such enlightening engagements in the future. The event not only strengthened the emotional and civic connect between the youth and the guardians of the nation’s borders but also served as a beacon of inspiration for many aspiring minds.

As India’s oldest paramilitary force with a legacy of valour and selfless service, Assam Rifles once again proved that its commitment goes beyond the battlefield—into the very hearts of its people.
