Assam Rifles Takes Oath Against Drugs, Strengthens Anti-Narcotics Commitment Across Northeast

Jiribam, June 26, 2025 : On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Assam Rifles organized a widespread anti-drug oath-taking ceremony on 26 June 2025 across Jiribam, Perzwal, and Tamenglong districts. This solemn initiative reflects the force’s unwavering commitment to combating the growing threat of substance abuse in Northeast India.

The ceremony witnessed active participation from Assam Rifles personnel, youth groups, and local citizens, all pledging to contribute to a drug-free society. It was part of a strategic awareness campaign targeting vulnerable communities in border areas where drug infiltration remains a pressing concern.

Driving Awareness and Enforcement

Over the years, Assam Rifles has gone beyond its security duties by initiating awareness programs in schools, colleges, and remote villages to educate the public—especially the youth—about the dangers of drug abuse. These efforts aim to replace ignorance with informed resistance and create a ripple effect of positive behavior change in society.

Combating the Drug Menace Proactively

In addition to awareness, Assam Rifles continues to play a critical operational role in intercepting drug traffickers and dismantling cross-border narcotics networks. Their intelligence-driven raids and coordination with civil authorities have led to significant drug seizures in the region.

A senior officer remarked during the event, “This oath is not just ceremonial—it’s a call to collective action. Together with the people, we are committed to safeguarding lives and securing futures.”

A Unified Stand for a Drug-Free Northeast

Assam Rifles’ approach underscores a balance between strict law enforcement and compassionate community engagement. With increasing support from local stakeholders, the force is shaping a culture of accountability, resilience, and long-term social well-being.

As the nation grapples with the complex challenge of narcotics, Assam Rifles’ efforts set a compelling example of how military-civil partnerships can reinforce public health and national integrity.
