In Shillong, three people are detained and heroin valued at Rs 25 lakh is seized.

B O News  Desk : The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Shillong has seized heroin worth Rs. 25 lakh and arrested three individuals in a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police officials said on Wednesday.

The operation began on Tuesday when Rohit Mattu was apprehended in the Cantonment area based on specific intelligence. During the arrest, police recovered 10 grams of heroin from his possession.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two more suspects, Raman Raina and Suraj Gill, from a rented property in the Laban area.

Over 150 grams of heroin were seized during this raid, said Jagpal Dhanoa, Superintendent of Police for the ANTF.

Gill, identified as the primary supplier, allegedly operated a hardware store in the Cantonment area as a front for his drug trafficking activities.

According to Dhanoa, he employed Mattu, Raina, and another suspect, Rohit Honda, to distribute heroin in the city.

Honda, who is reportedly on the run, is being actively pursued by law enforcement.

“The operation has exposed an intricate network of drug distribution in Shillong, with Gill at the centre of the supply chain,” the SP said, emphasising the police’s commitment to dismantling such illegal networks.

The arrested individuals are now in police custody as the investigation continues.
