
Joint Operation by Assam Rifles Leads to Successful Rescue of Abducted NHIDCL Employee in Manipur
Imphal/Tamenglong, April 5, 2025: In a commendable joint operation, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), successfully rescued an abducted individual within 24 hours in the Tamenglong district of Manipur. The individual, Sunil Kumar, an employee of Ganpati Company working under NHIDCL, was kidnapped on April 3, 2025, from a stone quarry near the Barak River bed close to Maokot village.
🚨 Night Raids & Real-Time Intelligence
Upon receiving the report of the abduction, Assam Rifles acted swiftly, launching multiple night raids across the adjoining forested areas. Simultaneously, CSOs were engaged to gather real-time intelligence, putting pressure on the perpetrators. As a result of this coordinated effort, the kidnappers released the victim unharmed in less than 24 hours.
The incident occurred near Tollen Village, and the operation was concentrated in areas along the Barak River and surrounding jungle terrain—notorious for criminal activity.
