Thoubal offers condolences to the victims of the Air India disaster as Manipur comes together in sadness.

Manipur came together in mourning as a joint condolence function was held in Thoubal to honour the memory of two cabin crew members — a Kuki and a Meitei — from the state who lost their lives in the Air India crash near Ahmedabad.

Two crew members from Manipur – Kongrabailatpam Nganthoi Sharma from Thoubal and Lamnunthem Singson, a resident of Kangpokpi – were killed in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. 241 people on board the London-bound flight were killed when the aircraft crashed shortly after take-off from the Ahmedabad airport.

The programme was organised by People for Animals Manipur, Social Reformation Union Thoubal, and the Social Service and Welfare Association Thoubal.

Students from educational institutions such as The Fancier Higher Secondary School, The Vision Creative School of Science, MM RENT Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Makha, and Nimaichand and Keinya High School attended the solemn gathering.

Organisers and attendees paid tribute to the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The tragedy has left the local community deeply saddened, bringing people together in shared grief.
