In Chirang Revives Lakhs in Stolen Goods.

In a major operation, the Chirang Police have recovered a vast consignment of Hindustan Uniliver (HUL) products amounting to nearly Rs 36 lakh, which had been missing from a truck during its transit from Kolkata to Guwahati. Recovery was made following a swift inquiry that was initiated after the robbery was reported.

The truck, a 10-wheeler with registration number AS 01 NC 3091, was reported to have lost its valuable cargo under unclear circumstances. Following a formal complaint from the truck owner, authorities at Runikhata Police Station launched an immediate inquiry into the incident.

The investigation yielded a breakthrough in the Thaisobari area, located near the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam’s Chirang district. Police discovered the entire stolen consignment at the residence of a suspect named Saumkhou Basumatari.

During the investigation, law enforcement apprehended two drivers associated with the truck, identified as Rupchand Ali, 38, and Imamul Haque, 32. Their interrogation provided critical leads that directed police to the location of the stolen goods.

Acting on this information, police conducted a raid at Basumatari’s residence, resulting in the recovery of a complete range of HUL cosmetic and personal care products. Basumatari has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.

This case indicates the growing trend of organized loot aimed at transit goods. The quick response by the Chirang Police reveals that they are interested in addressing such criminal activity and recovering the stolen goods. Investigators are going all out to track down the greater network involved in this operation.
