
Government Launches 6-Month Paid Internship for Women, SC/ST, and EWS Graduates in Assam
Guwahati | June 26, 2025: In a significant move towards fostering industry-based skills and employability among underrepresented groups, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has announced a 6-month Work-Based Learning (WBL) Internship Program at various NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) Centres across Assam. The program, which comes with a monthly stipend of ₹10,000, is aimed at empowering Women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates from technical backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria Focused on Inclusion and Skill Enhancement
As per the official notification, the internship program is open to women and candidates belonging to ST, SC, and EWS categories who hold qualifications in BE, B.Tech, M.Sc., or MCA. Eligible applicants must either be final-year students with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institute or should have graduated within the last three years.
The initiative aligns with the government’s objective of promoting work-integrated learning, ensuring that participants gain hands-on industry exposure, particularly in the field of electronics and information technology.
