IAF saves 14 people stuck in a flooded river on the border between Assam and Arunachal

 B O Correspondent : The Indian Air Force (IAF) rescued 14 individuals stranded in the swollen Bomjir River along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Sunday morning, officials confirmed.

Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul, who requested the intervention, praised the IAF’s timely response.

“Due to continuous rainfall in the region, the river’s water level rose rapidly, leaving the individuals stranded. The district administration promptly coordinated with the IAF and authorities in Arunachal Pradesh to carry out the rescue,” Paul said.

The operation was supervised by Sadiya Revenue Circle Officer Jaydeep Rajak.

Among those rescued, 13 were from Assam’s Tinsukia district and one from Arunachal Pradesh. All have since returned home safely.

Paul expressed his gratitude to the IAF for their crucial support, emphasizing that their prompt action ensured the safe evacuation of all those at risk.
