In Guwahati, a Meghalaya home guard was discovered dead.

A 34-year-old Meghalaya Home Guard, Ribokson Dkhar Sawian, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in North Guwahati on Wednesday, where he had been attending a training program. The Assam Police’s claim that Ribokson succumbed to a heart attack has been met with skepticism by his family, who insist his death was unnatural and are calling for a thorough probe.

Ribokson, a resident of Nongdawah, Mawryngkneng, in East khasi hills, traveled to Guwahati on April 7 for a training session with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). According to an FIR filed by his brother, Rolan Dkhar Sawian, Ribokson went missing from the NDRF training camp between 6:30 pm and 6:45 pm, as reported by his colleague, Kenedy Lhuid.

When Ribokson failed to return by 8:00 pm, his colleagues, along with NDRF and 1st Battalion Assam officials, launched a search but could not locate him. The following morning, with no sign of Ribokson, a missing person report was lodged at Changsari police station.

Later, police informed the family that Ribokson’s body had been discovered around 9:30 pm the previous night on a roadside near a dhaba in Gauripur. The Assam Police attributed his death to a heart attack, a conclusion the family strongly disputes, citing Ribokson’s excellent health and the unusual circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
