In a major breakthrough, police have arrested one of the key accused, Rupali Dutta, from Hyderabad today in a disturbing case of human trafficking involving two minor girls from the Guman Tea Estate in Assam’s Cachar district, marking a crucial step in exposing a broader trafficking network targeting vulnerable communities.
Earlier, the case, first registered under Kalain Police Station, had led to the rescue of the two minor girls from Jaipur, Rajasthan. One person identified as Leela Ram was also arrested in connection with the case.
Acting on further leads, Cachar Police identified Rupali Dutta, daughter of the late Ramesh Dutta and wife of Birendra Dutta of Brahmangram, as one of the main accused orchestrating the trafficking.
Following leads, a special police team was sent to Telangana, which successfully traced and arrested Dutta from Nanakramguda under Gachibowli Police Station, Ranga Reddy district, in Cyberabad. She was produced before the local court and has been remanded to 5 days in police custody for further interrogation.
