
Man Dies in Fire, Sister Escapes with Minor Injuries in Tezpur Blaze.
In a horrific incident, a man was burnt alive while his sister somehow managed to escape after a devastating fire erupted at their residence in Tezpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district. The terrifying inferno occurred at the Baroholia area in Tezpur where the house occupied by the brother-sister duo was located.
The blaze broke out late at night yesterday, completely engulfing the house and destroying the entire structure.
The harrowing ordeal took place when Bikash Sharma, a lawyer by profession, was asleep, as a result of which, he was unable to save his life. Fortunately, his sister narrowly escaped the incident with minor injuries.
The exact reason behind the fire has not yet been determined by the authorities and further investigation is underway. This tragic incident has sent shockwaves among the local community who are in a state of mourning.
Meanwhile, in a similar incident, a devastating fire swept through an electronics showroom in the Old Balibat area of Jorhat town early Sunday morning, reducing high-end electronic goods to ashes and causing losses of around Rs. 50 lakh.
Police said the blaze occurred around 8.40 am at the LG showroom, which was closed for business on Sunday. The showroom in a multi-storey building housed a family on the upper floor, who were safely evacuated.
Pravin Kankani, the owner, estimated the losses to be around Rs 50 lakh. He said that the showroom contained high-value electronic items, including LED TVs, air conditioners, refrigerators, and other appliances, all destroyed.
