Arunachal: In Deomali, forest officers save a young wild elephant

A baby elephant trapped for nearly two days in a muddy pit in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district was rescued by the Deomali Forest Division with crucial help from local villagers. The two-hour operation, led by Range Forest Officer Diwang Lowang and his team, successfully freed the calf and guided it back to the forest. In recognition of the villagers’ timely assistance, the Forest Department awarded them a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Officials urged the public to promptly report wildlife emergencies and reminded residents to close pits, as such hazards often endanger elephants traversing the region’s jungle routes.

Arunachal: A 19-year-old is detained after two people are hurt in a machete attack in Naharlagun

A sudden machete attack in Naharlagun’s C-Sector on Wednesday afternoon left two residents injured. The 19-year-old suspect, Daman Nima from Upper Subansiri district, reportedly attacked pedestrians without provocation around 1:15 PM. Police swiftly arrested him near Pachin Road. The victims, Nehru Murtem (57) and Hage Anku (54), are receiving medical treatment. Cases have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the investigation is ongoing.

The first person from the state to command a front-line Indian military warship is an Arunachal native.

West Kameng Infrastructure Projects Are Inaugurated by the Arunachal CM.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated 14 infrastructure projects worth ₹102 crore and laid the foundation for 21 new projects valued at ₹126 crore in the Kalaktang constituency, West Kameng District. The projects aim to accelerate development and improve connectivity in the region.

During a meeting in Shergaon, CM Khandu discussed future road projects, including the Shergaon to Mandala Top road, which is under survey, and the Shergaon to Doimara road, for which a feasibility study will be conducted following a memorandum from the Sherdukpen community. Necessary approvals are expected soon.
