Barak Valley witnessed an emotional and unique tribute on the 53rd birthday of Zubeen Garg, as thousands of admirers gathered at Silchar DSA Ground to sing “Mayabini Raatir Bukut,” light lamps, offer floral tributes, and release 53 sky lanterns in honour of the beloved Assamese music icon.
The 17th Northeast-Based Chiryu Tribal Students’ Conference and Golden Jubilee Celebration commenced in Budun Chiryu village, Lakhipur, with a grand inauguration. Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, along with other distinguished guests, attended the event, which featured traditional folk performances, a football tournament, and discussions on education and socio-economic development. The five-day event celebrates the rich heritage of the Chiryu tribe while fostering unity and cultural exchange.
