In a major crackdown by Cachar Police under the leadership of Hon’ble CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, drugs worth ₹20 Crore were seized in Meherpur, Silchar. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 386g of heroin and 60,000 Yaba tablets, with one peddler arrested. This successful operation highlights Assam’s continued efforts to combat the growing drug menace and ensures a drug-free future for the region.
A 7-foot-long Burmese python was rescued from Satsang Ashram Road, Silchar, near the Durga Puja Mandap. With the help of local residents, forest department officials and police safely captured the python, which will be released into the Borail forest range after necessary health checks.
