Assam Rifles recovered a huge quantity of explosives in Jiribam District, Manipur, during a joint operation with Manipur Police following specific intelligence inputs. The recovery, which comes in the same week as the Red Fort blast, includes 7 kg of IEDs, 10 gelatin sticks, cortex, detonators, electric wires, and a power source—materials commonly used to prepare IEDs targeting security forces. Assam Rifles has intensified vigilance across the region and continues to work closely with local authorities to maintain peace. ASSAM RIFLES RECOVERS ILLEGAL FOREIGN CIGARETTES WORTH RS 2 CRORES FROM JIRIBAM

Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Manipur Police, seized illegal foreign cigarettes worth Rs 2 crores from Savomphai in Jiribam district on 20 May 2025. The contraband, comprising 98 bags each containing 1000 cigarette packets, was being smuggled via boat from Tipaimukh and was intended for Bangladesh. Two individuals were apprehended. This operation highlights Assam Rifles’ resolute stance against smuggling and their continued efforts to dismantle cross-border illicit networks.
