Two separate drowning incidents have cast a pall of gloom over Cachar district, with a teenager and a young man feared dead in the Sonai and Barak rivers. Rescue operations were launched but had to be suspended due to nightfall.

A youth, Inungba Singh, went missing in the Barak River at Singerband while bathing with friends. Despite rescue efforts by police and SDRF, he remains untraced.
