Special Election Bus Service for Poll Workers Identified via ISBT

In preparation for the upcoming Panchayat elections, the administration has launched a special bus service for poll workers from the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Ramnagar, Silchar. Coordinated by the Silchar Traffic Police and the District Transport Officer (DTO), a total of 1,144 buses will operate, ensuring smooth transport to polling stations across various routes. With additional provisions like police escorts and water facilities on board, this initiative guarantees safe and timely movement for poll workers. Additional shuttle buses will also be available as needed.

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a Rs 22,864 crore Greenfield High-Speed Corridor from Shillong to Silchar, spanning 166.80 km. This four-lane highway, built under Hybrid Annuity Mode, will connect Mawlyngkhung in Meghalaya to Panchgram in Assam, reducing travel time and boosting connectivity to Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur. The corridor will enhance industrial growth, tourism, and logistics while decongesting NH-06, aligning with PM Gati Shakti and Atmanirbhar Bharat visions.
