NIT Silchar has suspended Dr. D. Koteswara Raju, an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering department, following allegations of molestation by a first-year female student. NHIDCL to Develop Silchar-Jiribam Road at Rs 733 Crore

In a significant boost to regional connectivity, the Central Government has assigned the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) the task of upgrading the Silchar-Jiribam road at an estimated cost of Rs 733 crore. This project aims to enhance road infrastructure in Barak Valley and facilitate smoother transportation to Manipur.

According to NHIDCL sources, an international competitive bidding process was initiated for the four-laning of a 13.09 km stretch of NH-37, extending from Silchar (near Budha Nagar) to Jiribam. The project falls under NH (Original)-NE and will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) on a Design, Build, Operate, and Transfer (DBOT Annuity) basis.
