“A dramatic turn of events unfolded in Hailakandi’s Algapur on Thursday night when a special team from West Bengal Police faced a violent attack while attempting to arrest an accused in a large-scale financial fraud case. Two police personnel sustained serious injuries in the assault. The West Bengal Police team had arrived to apprehend Sharif Uddin Choudhury, the working president of AGP’s Hailakandi district unit, and his son Masum Choudhury, who were accused of defrauding ₹80 lakh. As the police attempted to take action, they were ambushed by Masum and a group of miscreants using sticks, bricks, and sharp weapons.”
